have never understood why things happened the way they did. nor have i understood why they had to occur at all. Life is always full of the unexpected; while the expected never did seem to arrive. the sun is always shining bright, but why am i always feeling so cold inside? i am awake but my eyes do not see the world i want to see what will we have forever in our life? Nothing-changes and death are the only constants.

eVeryDay ShD b a hAppY dAY! :)

Hallo all! I am now in UK. The plane touched down at Heathrow Airport on 31st July, early in the morning at 6am (so it means that I have been here for 8 days already!). So this is my first entry. So what had I been doing in the past week?

After moving my things from the airport to the temporary accomodation provided by the company (Little Acorns, Colnbrook), I noted that I had 2 important issues on my agenda to fulfill. Well, I had to:
  1. Find a permanent accomodation for the coming 18 months. (That's so long...)
  2. Open a bank account
So that was basically what I have been up to for the past week. I finally opened a bank account with Barclays and found a place to stay (just somewhere near the town centre, although I would have to cross a bridge to get there and take a bus to my workplace. ;p)
Transport here doesn't come cheap. Even the monthly pass would cost 50pounds (~S$155).
Let's have a look at the place I currently stay at the moment!
The living room/kitchen:

My room:

My washroom: This is a very comfortable place to stay. Heard that the rental is ~750pounds/per week. OMG, that's expensive! I wished that I would be staying here for a longer period of time.

During the accomodation searching, we found this very (let me repeat, VERY) hugh house along Langley Road, which has 6 bedrooms in it. The 6 bedrooms were all very large and also, there is a large field behind the house, a very spacious parking space in front of the house and an enormous living room. But that came with a steep price of ~350pounds/per month/per person. Might not seem too expensive, but that translates to about S$1000+ a month. We would be truly be paying for the space. But it is a truly lovely place in a wonderful neighbourhood.

In total, I spent about 5 days (viewing more than 10 houses/apartments) before settling on the place that I will be staying from the next week onwards. Hee. Will update of the address and details again.

At Barclays for the UK account opening, the bank officer was vert warm-hearted and helpful too. Anyway, for the others who opened the account there too, they found an eye-candy in that branch. They really like her a lot, I think. (maybe that explains why we return to the bank almost every other day) Haha.

I guess I would be doing my grocery mainly from this supermart: TESCO. They are similar to GIANT, but I guess larger in scale. They have housebrands for almost everything, not just the normal grocery items. It even extends to pet insurance, savings, disposable camera, wine, etc, etc. ALMOST EVERYTHING. :) I can imagine that my place in the future would be filled with things from there! For the first day of grocery shopping, this is what I bought:

Almost every other item is a housebrand. Hee. Why? Because they are the cheapest. Bleah.

Till now, I haven't cooked yet. My housemate, Tessa, has been very nice to be preparing the meals. I will do my parts soon! Here she is in action:

And the end-product!

These were on two separate days. :)

Anyway, I started jogging over here. It's not easy to jog here because the air is extremely dry and cold (I guess I am just not used to it) - and that hurts my nose. :( But it was a great jog today, because I was brought to see this reservoir (it's more like a sailing training location). The breeze is very cooling and refreshing there.

And today, after the jog, I went to try out this oriental buffet at the town centre. It was not bad, quite value-for-money. There is quite a variety of food in the buffet to choose from.

Hee, the rest of the day, I was just kind of doing some window shopping. :)

I really hope that I won't grow fat while I am here in UK.
